Intel Chip Chat – Network Insights audio podcast with Allyson Klein: Brian Lappin, Head of uCPE Product Management at BT and Matt Olson, Global Telecom, Media, and Technology Strategist at Splunk join Intel Chip Chat Network Insights in this interview recorded as a virtual livecast in lieu of MWC Barcelona.

Data analytics are evolving to automate management of universal customer premises equipment (uCPE) edge network compute nodes. The applications for uCPE are growing, but success with these remote deployments is dependent on cost-effective management of these systems. Brian explains how important it is for service providers like BT to enable choice without complexity for its customers in a secure environment and that the ability to do this effectively on uCPE will be built around collaboration across a wide ecosystem of partners.

Splunk offers a powerful analytics platform that enables communications service providers (CommSPs) and the enterprises that they serve to gain end-to-end visibility of their uCPE infrastructure, WAN connections, security and other applications, with automatic response when network events violate network policies.

Although SDN and NFV have been around for a number of years, there have been fits and starts due to a variety of different reasons. What’s different this time around is there’s finally an integrated solution with partners aligned, working with service providers to help solve problems. However, as IoT devices continue to grow by some estimates, to 20B+ at the edge, the need to make data-driven decisions at the edge is becoming increasingly vital.

Matt and his team are responsible for facilitating Splunk’s Intelligent Enterprise Edge – a partnership with Intel, Adva, Dell, Fortinet, and Nokia/Nuage which provides real-time analytics on uCPE. In this interview, Matt highlights Splunk’s Data to Everything platform, and how his team helps turn real-time data into doing. Splunk helps service providers bring real-time data to every question, decision, and action that affects their organization so they can turn that data into successful outcomes. Learn more about the types of analytics that customers are requiring, how is Splunk making it easy for the customers to consume that data.
