Transformation with Turn-Key Solutions – Intel Chip Chat: Network Insights – Episode 72

Intel Chip Chat – Network Insights audio podcast with Allyson Klein: Gunnar Anderson, Product Line Manager for Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) at Cisco, explains how NFV fits into Cisco’s broader strategy for network optimization. He discusses the opportunities for initial virtualized deployments as customers look to switch away from purpose-built hardware and describes an example of a compelling event with a large financial institution. Cisco and Intel have a long history of collaboration, including Cisco’s use of Intel architecture and applying Intel Wireless Network Interface Cards for single root I/O virtualization (SR-IOV) and Open vSwitch (OVS) with Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK). The end result of this collaboration is the Cisco Cloud Services Platform 2100 turn-key solution offering a software and hardware solution that can run any virtual network function (VNF) regardless of provider.
