The acceleration of IP-based media is here. The next 12 months could be a whirlwind year for movies on the web, video and audio on handsets and digital media distribution. And then there are all the tools to make digital content.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced new tools in Garage Band for podcasters to more easily post content like sound and pictures on websites. Adobe’s newest version of Audition, 2.0, is designed to fold more easily into its suite of video production programs. And Adobe’s Hart Shafer says the software has proven itself in the professional audio world.

Hart is a senior product manager at Adobe, overseeing the audio production application Audition.

Shafer got his IT start in Arizona — Syntrillium country — in the late 90s by answering a newspaper help wanted ad. He’s lived, eaten and breathed Cool Edit/Audition ever since. If there’s anyone who knows everything about it, it’s Hart Shafer. PodTech’s Jason Lopez had a chance to talk with him about the changes we’ll see and hear in Audition 2.0.
