SAN FRANCISCO, August 18, 2006 (PodTech News) – “The radios worked in New Orleans until the power went out,” said Ellen Kirk, vice president of marketing for Tropos Networks, in an interview Wednesday with PodTech’s Catherine Girardeau. That test bodes well for the durability of Mountain View’s new Google WiFi network, using Tropos Networks’ mesh technology. Kirk takes us inside the system that powers Google WiFi.

REPORTER’S NOTES: Om Malik of GigaOm takes us beyond Mountain View WiFi in his post on broadband video. You might also want to read up on T-Mobile’s converged cellular projects, written by GigaOm’s Katie Fehrenbacher.
