James Joyce, the famous Irish author once said, “A man of genius makes no mistakes. His errors are volitional and are the portraits of discovery.” His namesake, entrepreneur Jim Joyce, could not agree more. An entrepreneur many times over and twice in healthcare, Jim says the kind of failure matters greatly as does one’s capacity for resilience.

Today Jim is CEO of Health Beacon, a Dublin, Ireland-based company that provides a unique smart sharps system that helps patients who use self-injectable medications at home to manage and improve their medical adherence more effectively.

Jim is uniquely experienced in the world of global digital health. As a man who sees a new business opportunity around every new corner, he speaks eloquently about the importance of knowing and honing your skills. “Why is a short guy good at shooting from the outside? Because he has to be!” Jim attributes the successful exit of has last digital health company and the excellent prospects of his current to being a born entrepreneur – one who was trying to figure out how to make his companies hum when his buddies were outside aspiring to be firemen and astronauts.
