The design philosophy is all about integration – IO, network and NIC on the same package as the microprocessor for use in markets including communications, storage and microservers where scalability and density are critical. Intel is using SoCs in Intel Atom processors and recently released details on the upcoming Intel Xeon D processor line, the first true Xeon processor based SoC.
