RealNetworks Reveals iPod Rival

LOS ANGELES, September 18, 2006 (PodTech News) — Only days after Microsoft announced that its Zune media player will be released in time for the holidays, Seattle-based RealNetworks unveiled plans to partner with SanDisk on a new portable music player set to arrive in stores sometime this fall. The new player will combine RealNetwork’s Rhapsody subscription music service with SanDisk’s Sansa e200 player and will come pre-loaded with 32 hours of music. Rob Williams is RealNetwork’s vice president of music software. He spoke with PodTech’s Matt Kelly about the company’s news. Kelly also checked in with Jupiter Research vice president and research director Michael Gartenberg for a second opinion.
