In this Intel Chip Chat audio podcast with Allyson Klein: In this livecast from the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in San Francisco PK Gupta, Director of Cloud Platform Technology at Intel stops by to chat about how his team is working to integrate FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) into Intel Xeon processors. He explains that integrated FPGAs can greatly improve performance for targeted workloads and are able to be programmed on the fly which enables them to target a wide array of workloads in the data center. PK talks about how Intel has created a Hardware Accelerator Research Program that is making integrated FPGA + Xeon software development platforms available to the academic and researching community. He outlines how this program will help spur research in FPGA programming research and development of innovative applications for accelerator-based computing systems.
