Businesses need to do more with the bandwidth they have and are looking to put voice, video, and data together on a single network. Ethernet on wide area networks helps them do that. It’s less expensive on a cost-per-megabit basis than legacy systems and it is highly scalable. Brent Spooner, Director for Data and Managed Services at XO Communications, talks about Ethernet’s characteristics like universal connectivity and simplicity, among several reasons why adoption is trending up — and he offers a glimpse of the future for the technology.
