With over 3,200 technology and 500 life science companies in the state, and 8% year-over-year growth, Utah leads the western states region in creating and sustaining these companies. Richard Nelson, president and CEO of the Utah Technology council (formerly UITA) shares his observations about the Utah business climate, the accomplishments of the UTC in partnering with the state legislature to create Utah’s ‘Fund of Funds’ and in launching the USTAR initiative. Nelson also discusses the annual UTC Hall of Fame induction ceremony and announces Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft has committed to present the inductees at the ceremony. The fun of working with the state’s crop of highly talented executives in his role at UTC drives Nelson’s leadership efforts and enthusiasm for UTC’s mission.
