New technologies are helping the enterprise to save time, money and energy, while eliminating downtime. When virtualization meets the data center, the savings can be profound. Intel’s and VMware’s “Flex Migration” allows VMware’s VMotion to take advantage of all the hardware in the data center – from older generations to next generations.

Mendel Rosenblum is a co-founder and chief scientist at VMware, and Pat Gelsinger is executive vice president and general manager of Intel’s Digital Enterprise Group.

They gave the first public demonstration of “Flex Migration” at the Spring IDF, 2008.
