In this Intel Chip Chat audio podcast with Allyson Klein: Microsoft recently announced general availability of Azure Large Instances (which scale up to 9TB) with Intel Optane DC Persistent Memory. Microsoft and Intel have partnered extensively with SAP to deliver greater performance, capacity, and database availability and support to SAP HANA customers.

Juergen Thomas is the Principal Architect Lead at Microsoft. In this live interview at Microsoft Ignite 2019, he outlines the specific benefits of the new instances of SAP HANA and how it delivers value in concert with persistent memory. This includes flexibility regarding hardware deployment and configuration, allowing SAP HANA customers coverage previously not available with virtual machines, and faster, smoother experiences when restarts are required.

Software and workloads used in performance tests may have been optimized for performance only on Intel microprocessors. Performance tests are measured using specific computer systems, components, software, operations and functions. Any change to any of those factors may cause the results to vary. You should consult other information and performance tests to assist you in fully evaluating your contemplated purchases, including the performance of that product when combined with other products.
