MENLO PARK, July 10, 2006 (PodTech News) — Freescale Semiconductor announced today it’s shipping a new memory chip product, the MRAM, or “magnetoresistive random access memory device.” The company says the device, which uses magnetic materials combined with silicon circuitry, is the first of its kind to be available commercially. “Competition to become the first company to market MRAM technology was fierce. This is a significant achievement that certainly confirms the dedication of Freescale’s engineering team,” said Bob Merritt of Semico Research, in a press statement. PodTech’s Catherine Girardeau reports.
