Greg Butterfield is chairman, president and CEO of Utah-based Altiris. Altiris was the first successful enterprise technology company IPO in the US after 9/11. Today, the company’s annual sales are over $200 million. Butterfield discusses his his 10 principles of building a results-driven team and having fun along the way. He advocates a maintaining a culture that balances discipline and fun, fitting abilities to business objectives, ‘smart’ (specific, measureable, achievable, relevant and time-bound) goals and objectives, healthy debate, and giving back. He also discusses some of the ‘unfun’ aspects of being a publicly traded company.
