Developing more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly highway transportation technologies that enable Americans to use less petroleum is the mission of the FreedomCAR and Vehicle Technologies Program, which supports the mission of the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. According to Ed Wall, program manager for the FreedomCar and Vehicle Technologies Program, the long-term aim is to develop “leapfrog” technologies that will provide Americans with greater freedom of mobility and energy security, while lowering costs and reducing impacts on the environment. It’s great to see our tax dollars at work to achieve this aim, to learn about the program and meet the passionate government employees dedicated to its success.
