The University of Michigan’s Solar Car Team had one of the more inspiring booths at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit last month. The entirely student-run organization is dedicated to designing, financing, building and racing solar powered cars. And they have a pretty impressive track record to show for their efforts! These young students are definitely the future designers and engineers of the major automakers, as well as the alternative fuel vehicle manufacturers. During the show, I spoke with Business Manager Tom Carroll, who introduced me to the M-Pulse and Momentum, two of the team’s creations. They are already hard at work on their 9th generation vehicle, the Continuum.
