John Plaza is head of Seattle BioDiesel, a division of Imperium Renewables. The company is in the process of building Imperium Gray’s Harbor, a biodeisel refinery which will be able to produce 100 million gallons of biodiesel a year — a pretty amazing statistic when you consider that last year’s national biodiesel production was only 75 million gallons. The biodiesel blend will be made from canola grown in Washington, soy and other crops. I spoke with John about the company and the promise of this alternative fuel.
