December 15th, 2006 |

The design studios of seven automakers competed in a Design Challenge at the L.A. Auto Show. The competition combined wood, alloys, glass, rubber and other materials to create 100 percent recyclable roadsters of the future. The eco-friendly vehicles were designed with environmental sustainability in mind and included features like interchangeable and recyclable body coverings, pedal power (for L.A. traffic) and an algae-filled vehicle that transforms CO2 into oxygen.
